The Columbus Youth Jazz Summer Workshop returns this summer! Join us for 1-3 weeks of music-making, where we will play jazz together in small combos led by one of our renowned teaching artists. During each week-long day camp, you will meet new peers from around Columbus who love playing their instrument and learning new songs, just like you. This camp is open to students in grades 7-12.
During the Columbus Youth Jazz Summer Workshop, we will develop skills such as:
– How to learn a jazz song
– How to improvise
– Technique on your instrument
– Creating an original arrangement
We will explore new composers, songs, and styles. At the end of each week, we will have a public final concert to put our newly learned skills to the test.
Please see the dates below to choose which weeks you would like to join us at the Jazz Academy. Each week will be new and different so we encourage you to sign up for as many as you’re able to attend! Tuition for each week is $125 per student and payment must be received to reserve your spot in the program. Attendance is limited due and will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis, with certain seats reserved based on instrumentation.
